Spanish businessman Enrique Riquelme confirmed on Saturday that he would run against Florentino Perez in Real Madrid’s presidential elections, by formally submitting his candidacy. “Today is a very important day for Real Madrid – after 20 years, people are going to be able to vote,” Riquelme said as he left the club’s offices having filed the paperwork. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has affirmed a former senator, Halliru Jika, as its candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election, resolving earlier internal party tensions through consensus. TCN gives update on blackout in presidential villa, Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport, other parts of Abuja

The Transmission Company of Nigeria said it is already addressing the blackout in parts of Abuja, including the Presidential Villa and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.  A statement by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s spokesperson, on Saturday, said the outage was due to faults with the red and yellow phase 33kV bushings of the 100MVA power transformer in its Apo substation.  According to TCN, the red phase bushing has been resuscitated, while work is ongoing on the yellow phase.
