Bandits abduct 300 level varsity student in Katsina

Bandits have reportedly abducted Auwal Mas’ud Shitu, a 300-level Pure and Industrial Chemistry student at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina State. The incident was disclosed on Monday in a post on X by Bakatsine, a journalist who reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest. Bakatsine wrote that Shitu was kidnapped on Sunday, May 17, 2026, while travelling from Charanchi to Dutsin-Ma.  According to the report, the abductors are now demanding N20 million ransom, an amount the family reportedly cannot afford.
