The police in Abia State, South-east Nigeria, say they have arrested Agwu Ukpo, a 37-year-old man who was filmed assaulting a woman, Amarachi Chinyere, in the state. Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported that the case fatality rate for Lassa fever rose to 19.3 per cent in 2026, up from 18.9 per cent recorded during the same period in 2025. Filling stations in parts of Lagos and Ogun states have reduced the price of petrol to an average of N1,205 per litre as of Sunday. The reduction followed the cut in petrol gantry prices by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery last week.
