Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has directed the Commissioner for Health in the state, Seiyefa Brisibe, to carry out a “compulsory medical check-up” on every member of the state executive council. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has redeployed the Fagge Divisional Officer following a tragic incident in which a volunteer died at the divisional office. A Jigawa State High Court has sentenced a rapist, Abubakar Muhd, to death by hanging and ordered him to pay N5m in compensation to his 15-year-old victim. Lagos State governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Funso Doherty, has raised concerns about the existence of multiple versions of the law on official government platforms.
