Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has flagged off the payment of ₦3.82 billion in gratuities to 985 retirees across the state. The beneficiaries comprise 509 retirees from the 2020 batch and 476 retirees from the 2015–2019 batches, drawn from the mainstream civil service, secondary schools and state parastatals. Ride-hailing giant Uber will be laying off around 10 per cent of its staff as part of “significant organisational changes,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a message to employees released on Wednesday. “Today, we’re making a number of significant organisational changes across Uber,” Khosrowshahi said. “As a result, we will be reducing the size of our team by about 10 percent.” Uber has a total of roughly 34,000 employees with operations in more than 70 countries, according to a recent SEC filing. US District Court Judge Leonie Brinkema declined the Justice Department’s request to make Google sell off parts of its ad tech business, accepting milder remedies to restore competition to markets it illegally monopolized for years.Brinkema said she would adopt most of the behavioral changes proposed by the parties, with some modifications.
