The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has raised the alarm over planned campaigns of calumny by politicians and vested-interest groups targeting the agency and its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Commission alleged that a network of politicians, academics, self-styled civil society activists, and some Nigerian fugitives abroad have been recruited to orchestrate media attacks aimed at undermining the EFCC’s credibility. The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, Olugbenga Olaleye, has charged the staff of the agency to remain focused on their duties and uphold integrity in order to improve revenue generation, curb leakages, and eliminate sharp practices. The Kogi State sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has attributed a motor accident on the Lokoja–Abuja road, which killed five people and injured seven others, to wrongful overtaking. The FRSC office in Lokoja disclosed that the accident occurred on Tuesday and involved three children—two girls and a boy. Togo, Niger, and Benin owe Nigeria $17.8m, an equivalent of over N25bn at the current exchange rate, for electricity supplied under bilateral arrangements, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has said. In its Third Quarter 2025 report, NERC disclosed that the three international customers were invoiced a total of $18.69m by the Market Operator for electricity supplied during the period, but they remitted only $7.125m, leaving an outstanding balance of $11.56m.
