A director of research at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Femi Otubanjo, has suggested that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara may defect to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, ahead of the 2027 elections. Thieves armed with guns, knives, and cutlasses have broken into the female hostel of the Numan Campus of Adamawa State Polytechnic and dispossessed students of 15 phones and other valuables. Witnesses said some students who resisted attempts to steal their phones got injured, with one fainting from the trauma of the attack. The Ogun State Police Command has deployed over 2,500 personnel across Ijebu Ode and adjoining communities to provide security during the 2026 Ojude Oba festival scheduled for Friday.
