The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, has uncovered an alleged ₦16.17 million pregnancy scam and recorded breakthroughs in recovering hundreds of counterfeit cosmetic products. The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the FCID Annex, Simeon Akpanudom, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists on the department’s operational achievements between 30 March and 25 June. The Nigerian Communications Commission has launched a Women in Leadership Programme to strengthen female leadership in technology. The initiative aims to create a sustainable pipeline of women leaders across Nigeria’s telecommunications and digital sectors. The Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management, Rimini Makama, introduced the programme on Thursday in Abuja. Makama said the initiative was designed to mentor women and prepare them for greater professional responsibilities. She said the programme would build networks among women within the NCC and the wider telecommunications industry. Justice Samira Bature of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, has issued a fresh bench warrant directing all law enforcement agencies to arrest a police officer, Edith Erhunwunse, over her continued absence from proceedings in an alleged N300m criminal eviction and property damage case. The order was made in suit number FCT/HC/CR/222/2023 following an application by the prosecution, led by Aderonke Imana. The Lagos State Police Command said it has concluded its investigation into Monday’s explosion in the Mushin area of Lagos, ruling out terrorism, sabotage and any criminal use of explosives as the cause of the incident.
