Presco Plc has announced a change in the composition of its board with the appointment of Adewale Arikawe as a non-executive director, effective from 2 January. In a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) signed by its secretary, Frederick Ichekwai on Monday, the palm oil producer said Mr Arikawe was appointed to fill a casual vacancy on the board and will serve until the company’s next annual general meeting. Journalists were on Monday barred by security personnel from gaining access to the court for the coverage of the arraignment of 52 suspected anti-kidnapping protesters arrested at the weekend in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State. A self-proclaimed marabout, or traditional folk healer, who collected 33,500 euros by promising victory for Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations was arrested for fraud after the team lost. Mali’s national team was eliminated on Friday in the quarter finals by Senegal 1-0. The man, identified only as Mr Sinayogo, collected more than 22 million CFA francs in donations, according to an associate.
