The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has urged police officers in the state to maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties. According to him, this is line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu. Mr Orutugu made the call at the security conference organised by the police command in Anambra on Tuesday in Awka. It is caused by weak intelligence gathering, poor policing capacity, inadequate investigation, corruption within the security architecture, limited deterrence and inconsistent law enforcement. I read reports attributed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Tunde Disu, where he stated that he is considering outlawing fully tinted vehicles in Nigeria. No fewer than 18 people have been killed in a communal clash linked to a lingering land dispute in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, with 15 of the victims reportedly burnt to death after assailants set a two-bedroom apartment ablaze.
