The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Dr Ihu Eunice Ogbenyi as the Acting Head of Service (HoS) of the state. The appointment follows the passing of the former Head of Service, Dr Agbogbo Ode, who served from 2023 to 2026. Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have uncovered an illegal firearms fabrication site in Potiskum and arrested seven suspects. This is contained in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, on Wednesday in Damaturu, the state capital. The national leadership of Accord on Wednesday disowned Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, insisting that the party neither conducted a presidential primary nor produced any candidate for the race. Three chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, who had at different times been  lawmakers in Osun State House of Assembly, have resigned their membership of the party. The lawmakers, Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare and Folorunso Oladoyin, resigned their APC membership through letters addressed to the local government chairmen of the party. The three resignations occured between June 1 and 2, and beside Bakare that cited lack of internal democracy for dumping APC, the other two chieftains did not state reasons for their action in the letters.
