Nigeria recorded $10.37 billion in capital importation in the first quarter of 2026, representing an 83.83 per cent increase compared to the $5.64 billion received in the corresponding period of 2025 The development was contained in a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday. The upper chamber passed the bill after considering the report of its Committee on Health, presented by Banigo Ipalibo, its chairman. The Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday said it had commenced an investigation into an invasion of the Nigeria Immigration Service office in Ogbomoso on Tuesday night, during which firearms belonging to officers on duty were allegedly carted away. A 45-year-old man, Yusuf Usman, has died after entering a well converted into a refuse pit in Kwa Town, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, in an attempt to retrieve a mobile phone. The incident which occurred on Wednesday was confirmed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi. According to the statement, the Fire Service received a distress call at about 11:13 a.m. from one of its staff members, Kabiru Tata, reporting the incident.
