A coalition of civil society organisations (CSOs) has criticised the Nigerian Senate over its recent vote on proposed amendments to the Electoral Act, describing the decision as a major setback for electoral integrity and democratic accountability. No fewer than 4,500 opposition members from ‎The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State. No fewer than eight suspected kidnappers and illicit drug peddlers were arrested by troops of the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin City, in Edo State.
