The Edo State Government on Thursday said that it will commence training for newly recruited forest guards on June 5. The Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Festus Ebea, in a statement released noted that the training would take place at the Police Training School, Ogida Barracks, Benin City and the recruits are to report on or before 5:00 p.m. on the stated date. Residents of Eda Oniyo in the Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Wednesday staged a protest over the continued captivity of 16 worshippers abducted by gunmen, despite the payment of N10.5m ransom.
