Faruk Bunza, a judge of the Kebbi State High Court, kidnapped at his residence on 26 July, has been released after spending eight days in captivity. The judge’s release was confirmed on Monday by the police, his family, and the State Ministry of Justice. The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has announced the successful completion of the twelve-month insurance sector recapitalisation exercise involving 43 insurance and reinsurance companies. The completion of the exercise was disclosed on Monday in a statement by NAICOM, which said it was conducted pursuant to Section 15 and other relevant provisions of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, signed into law on 31 July 2025 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The United States has recorded its highest number of measles infections in 35 years, prompting the country’s Health Secretary, Robert Kennedy, to publicly urge parents to vaccinate their children against the highly contagious disease.
