The National Economic Council on Monday approved the refinancing of the $3.3bn Project Gazelle Pre-Export Finance Facility through a new $4.5bn facility named Project Gazelle 2. Mr Akpan, a former deputy bureau chief of The Guardian in Nigeria’s South-south region, died on Sunday night, according to the Cross River State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has asked the Court of Appeal in Abuja for permission to file a fresh appeal against a Federal High Court judgement that barred it from imposing monetary fines on broadcast stations.
