A cholera outbreak has infected thousands of people and placed growing pressure on health facilities in Borno State, with 74 deaths and 7,850 suspected cases recorded in the state since early May. A United States federal court has jailed a Nigerian, Atuchukwu Onyeanusi, over fraud and misuse of visas, permits and other identification documents. According to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of South Dakota, the 32-year-old Onyeanusi was sentenced by District Judge Camela C. Theeler to time served, under six months in custody, followed by one year of supervised release. The Benue State Police Command has arrested a man suspected to be the leader of an armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly linked to a series of criminal activities in Gboko Local Government Area.
