A former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, has explained why he participated in the Senate screening of ambassadorial nominees despite raising concerns over an alleged breach of Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Ndume, who represents Borno South in the National Assembly, had in a statement last week urged President Bola Tinubu to withdraw the list of nominees, citing what he described as a violation of the federal character principle in the composition of the list. He highlighted disparities in the distribution of nominees, noting that while some states have three or four slots, others have none. “He (Tinubu)…

Singer and songwriter, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido and Omah Lay’s collaboration, “With You”, topped Spotify’s list of the most shared Nigerian songs in 2025. Spotify, in its 2025 Wrapped data for Nigeria, said the track emerged as the most forwarded and reposted song across private and public digital spaces. NAN reports on Monday that according to Spotify, this underscores how music functions as a powerful social connector among Nigerians. “It also reflects a broader trend in which Nigerians use music as a personal handshake in song form, a way to say, “I’m thinking of you”, without typing a…
If you’re tired of seeing Instagram posts with a seemingly endless list of hashtags, Instagram is making a change to stop that. In a post today, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said that the platform will now cap hashtags to five per post.“While I know it can be tempting to use more, a few specific tags actually perform better than a long list of generic ones,” Mosseri says on his “Instagram advice” channel. “Quality over quantity is key.” Mosseri notes that hashtags do help with search, but “don’t increase your reach” — instead, you should “focus on working out what kind…

This piece of singularly ugly furniture hadn’t left its spot in more than a decade. The wall had a small square door that, when…

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, has opposed a proposal by the Senate to amend Nigeria’s anti-terrorism law to impose the death penalty without the option of a fine, for all kidnapping-related offences. Mr Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, warned that the proposal could undermine Nigeria’s cooperation with international partners in the global war against terrorism, as many countries would refuse to extradite suspects who may face capital punishment. He said approving such a provision could inadvertently create safe havens abroad for terrorism suspects, noting that foreign courts often block extradition on human…
