Today, every unemployed or unemployable journalist wants to carry a ‘dignified’ title of being a publisher, hence the rash of poorly edited and managed online publications in the cyberspace. It has become a case of ‘read one and you’ve read all’; no variety, no nuance, and no depth. News stories now read the same and flat! Features have become tasteless and investigation poor, if any. All the metrics for legacy news media are headed in the same direction: less revenue, far fewer reporters and editors, less profit to reinvest and less community clout. – Rory O’Connor It is not in…

Finding a good laptop under $500 was hard enough before RAMageddon. They nearly always had cheap hardware and underpowered, often outdated chips. That’s what made the MacBook Neo so disruptive: It offered great build quality and good-enough performance starting at $599. Windows laptops couldn’t touch it. Even though it’s gone up to $699, it’s still the laptop to beat.So when little-known Chinese brand Chuwi announced a $450 Windows laptop with an aluminum build and a brand-new Intel Wildcat Lake processor, it sounded too good to be true.$449The GoodIt’s $450Tons of ports for a small laptop (though none are very fast)Good…
Crypto is finally shaking off the “get rich quick” reputation that has defined the industry for more than a decade according to Nansen founder and CEO Alex Svanevik — and it’s not just because nobody’s getting rich right now.“Crypto assets have kind of been like the ‘toy world’ era of blockchains. And now we’re moving into the real-world era, where you see tokenized stocks, you see people trading indices like the S&P 500 and Hyperliquid,” Svanevik tells Magazine on the Trade Secrets show.“I think the interesting spot that blockchains are in right now is that they are basically giving a…

The means of communication chosen to hatch a plot or stage a surprise is critical to the success of the plan. For some whose names surfaced in the alleged coup investigation, communication was not limited to ordinary telephone calls. Messages were exchanged through WhatsApp, while some conversations were taken to Zangi, a lesser-known messaging application built to guarantee privacy and secure communication. The distinction is important. WhatsApp is one of the world’s most widely used messaging platforms, familiar to virtually everyone with a smartphone. Zangi is, however, different. Its appeal is centred more explicitly on private communication. The application has…
Ultimately, federalism succeeds not merely because power is decentralised, but because authority, incentives and capability are deliberately aligned to make productivity the basis of political success. When states compete to build institutions, attract investment, develop people and expand their productive frontiers, rivalry becomes developmental. It is through that alignment, not constitutional perfection, that productive capabilities are built, locational comparative advantages emerge and sustainable development becomes possible. Productive Federalism Productive federalism is not a race to duplicate identical industrial parks, airports, universities or government-owned enterprises. While such investments are not inherently negative, the use of scarce resources requires a more strategic…
