The local government councils of Edu and Ifelodun in Kwara State have each declared a 24-hour curfew in certain communities as part of intensified security measures against banditry and kidnapping. The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a man, Mustapha Mohammed, over the alleged possession of explosive materials. In a statement, the police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation. “On January 27, 2027, at about 4:15 pm, operatives of Task Force on Illegal Mining of the command, led by ASP Aminu Aliyu acting on credible and actionable intelligence, carried out a successful operation that led to the arrest of the suspect in connection with unlawful possession of suspected explosive materials,” he said.
