Edo State’s domestic debt has risen sharply under Governor Monday Okpebholo, climbing from N113 billion at the end of 2024 to N172.37 billion by March 2026 and moving the state from 12th to sixth among Nigeria’s most indebted states, according to the latest data from the Debt Management Office (DMO). Health authorities and development partners have identified shortages of health workers as a major constraint to routine immunisation services in three northern states. The issue was highlighted during a Joint States Stakeholders Meeting with New Incentives – All Babies Are Equal Initiative (NI-ABAE), held in Sokoto from 10 to 11 August. The police in Anambra State say they have uncovered an alleged plot by four men to murder a Nigerian man and then take over his landed properties in the state. Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesman in the state, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has become the second-largest on record, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). The country has recorded 4,449 confirmed cases and 2,061 deaths across five provinces and 53 health zones. The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects over an alleged plot to murder a businessman and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
