Suspected bandits have launched another attack on Goron Dutse ward in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, leading to the death of three of the attackers after a confrontation with security forces. The attack occurred late Saturday night when the bandits reportedly invaded the area. However, troops stationed in the community engaged them in a gun battle, killing three bandits and recovering their motorcycles. A vigilante member was, however, killed during the clash. The Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Capital Territory Command, has recorded progress in inmate empowerment and rehabilitation through expanded skill acquisition and educational programmes across its custodial centres. In a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson for the command, Adamu Duza, NCoS said the initiatives are aimed at promoting rehabilitation, easing reintegration into society and reducing recidivism among discharged inmates.
