A Jigawa State High Court has sentenced a rapist, Abubakar Muhd, to death by hanging and ordered him to pay N5m in compensation to his 15-year-old victim. Lagos State governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Funso Doherty, has raised concerns about the existence of multiple versions of the law on official government platforms. Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has directed the Commissioner for Health in the state, Seiyefa Brisibe, to carry out a “compulsory medical check-up” on every member of the state executive council.
