Heads of state from the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) met on Friday in Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé, for a one-day summit to discuss the region’s economy and impact of the war in Ukraine. The Kano State government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew with a view to avoiding a breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state. The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Mallam Muhammad Garba, said this in a statement issued Monday morning. A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and agent in the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Ebonyi State, Oyibo Nwani, was on Saturday shot dead by thugs who stormed his polling unit in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state. The statement, which Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, signed, negates the objectives of public communication in two ways. A former governor of Enugu State and Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, has lost his bid to go back to the Senate. Nnamani, who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled 48,701, to be defeated by the candidate of the Labour Party, Kelvin Chukwu, who secured 69,136 votes.
