The Gombe State governor, Yahaya, won the governorship election for a second term on Sunday. Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State won Saturday’s governorship election for a second term in office. Mr Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 342,821 votes to beat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Muhammad Jibiri Barde, who scored 233,131 votes. A member of Kano State House of Assembly, Isiyaku Ali Danja Gezawa and 164 persons were arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly trying to set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and a police station. Ali Danja, of Gezawa Constituency, was alleged to have led a team of hoodlums to destroy the INEC collation centre in Gezawa.
