The Kano State government has imposed dawn to dusk curfew with a view to avoid breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections. The state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, made the announcement in a statement issued Monday morning. He said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already tense situation. Heads of state from the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) met on Friday in Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé, for a one-day summit to discuss the region’s economy and impact of the war in Ukraine. A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and agent in the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Ebonyi State, Oyibo Nwani, was on Saturday shot dead by thugs who stormed his polling unit in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state. Onicha LGA is where the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Odii, hails from. On Monday, Nigeria’s presidency released another of those unhelpful press statements. The statement, which Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, signed, negates the objectives of public communication in two ways. This made it a counterproductive initiative, at the end. Mr Shehu’s objective was to establish the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), as a devoted democrat and compassionate leader.
