Gift Worlu, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Tuesday said the former Sole Administrator of the state, Ibok-Ete Ibas, failed to make provisions for the State House of Assembly in the budget he presented during his six month in power. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, on Tuesday, said it has rescued 58 out of the 300 missing children in Benue Mrs Gloria Bai, the Zonal Commander, NAPTIP Zonal Command, Makurdi, made the disclosure at a press conference in Makurdi. Bai, represented by Mr Yusuf Abdul, the agency’s Head of Operations, said the children were rescued on four different occasions. According to her, the command started investigations on the matter in May 2025. The Nigeria National League, NNL, has postponed the kick-off date for the second stanza of the 2025/26 Nigeria National League, NNL, season. The second stanza, which was earlier scheduled to kick-off on January 31 will now commence on February 14, 2026. According to a statement released by the NNL on Tuesday, the change is due to logistical and other circumstances. A civil rights group, Citizens’ Gavel, has called for the immediate release of 52 students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, who were remanded following a protest against insecurity. The students were arrested after a demonstration in Ekpoma, the headquarters of Esan West Local Government Area. The protest, which began on Saturday as a peaceful demonstration against the rising cases of kidnapping and killings in the area, reportedly turned violent.
