When it comes to politics, it’s all about interests, but keeping things stable relies on good management. Inside every political party, there are ambitions to fulfil, loyalties to honour, balances to strike, and egos to manage with care. When these competing forces come together through open dialogue, inclusivity, and smart compromises, that’s when consensus is born. On the flip side, when exclusion, imposition, distrust, and political arrogance take the lead, contention is bound to follow. This is the reality that the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State is currently facing. Interestingly, the conversation around who will succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun…
The Central Bank of Nigeria has urged state governments to reduce their reliance on overdrafts and short-term borrowing, warning that reckless fiscal behaviour at the sub-national level could undermine the country’s transition to an inflation-targeting monetary policy framework. This was contained in a press statement issued by the CBN on Sunday following an engagement with sub-national stakeholders facilitated through the Nigerian Governors’ Forum Secretariat in Abuja. According to the statement, the Deputy Governor in charge of the Economic Policy Directorate, Dr Muhammad Abdullahi, said state governments must adopt stricter fiscal discipline to support price stability and ongoing macroeconomic reforms. “He…

Supriya Ganesh is getting candid about leaving The Pitt — and the online reaction that followed. “I tried to take a step away, because it’s just been so surreal,” Ganesh, 28, told Variety in an interview published on Sunday, May 10, of the reaction. “The day that news broke, I saw my name was trending on Twitter, and I was like, ‘Gotta put the phone down and go outside.’ So, I haven’t really been keeping track of it, to be honest, but I’ve been getting such sweet, lovely messages from people, and I’ve honestly just been surprised at how much…

Responding after the exercise, Mr Basiru said the screening committee had concluded interactions with…
The continent holds structural advantages, converting them into power now demands coherence, capacity and long-term discipline. Africa spent years carrying the weight of a bleak narrative. It was the period when the continent was routinely described as the hopeless continent, defined by conflict, fragility and unending crisis. That framing never captured the full story, but it shaped global attitudes and influenced policy choices in ways that were hard to ignore. A different moment followed. Growth improved, new industries emerged and a young population began to reshape the economic landscape. Commentators declared that Africa was rising. It was a welcome shift,…
