The Supreme Court on Friday cleared a former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Hakeem Otiki, six years after he was demoted and dismissed over the disappearance of N100 million belonging to the military. The Zamfara State House of Assembly has approved the extension of the suspension of seven lawmakers for another legislative session over alleged misconduct and violation of House rules. Four people are reportedly injured in Kano after officers of the NDLEA allegedly opened fire in an area around the market and the Murtala Muhammad Hospital axis of the city. Eyewitnesses said the victims include one man and three women, among them a young girl and a married woman. The Zamfara State Police Command has recovered a ten-day-old baby allegedly stolen from General Hospital, Kaura-Namoda, in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of the state. In a statement on Saturday, the spokesperson of the command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the infant was recovered following a complaint lodged at the Kaura-Namoda Divisional Police Station three days earlier over the reported theft. The Nigerian Hypertension Society has raised concern over the growing burden of hypertension in Nigeria, revealing that one in every three adults in the country is living with the condition, while fewer than one in five patients achieve proper blood pressure control.
