The 79th World Health Assembly has approved the development of a post-2030 global tuberculosis strategy, with member-states requesting World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus to coordinate consultations ahead of a draft presentation at the 81st World Health Assembly in 2028. WHO said on Thursday that the proposed strategy would guide the global tuberculosis response using emerging scientific advances and current epidemiological trends, while aligning TB programmes with primary healthcare and universal health coverage priorities. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has warned that 12 local government areas in Kebbi State are at risk of severe flooding during as the 2026 rainy season intensifies. The warning was issued during a stakeholders’ engagement on the National Disaster Preparedness and Response Campaign 2026 held in Birnin Kebbi. NEMA said September is expected to mark the peak of the flood season in the state, with projections indicating possible overflow of the River Niger. The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Planning Committee in Adamawa State has officially announced Ahmed Galadima as the winner of the primary election in the state. The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, sitting in Gudu, has ordered the remand of one Mr Suleiman Danjuma, over the alleged defilement of two minors. The defendant was arraigned before Justice M.M. Adamu. Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspects for alleged involvement in the peddling of illicit drugs in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state. The command also recovered quantities of substances suspected to be variants of Cannabis sativa, popularly known as Indian hemp, during separate intelligence-led operations.
