The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has extended the deadline for the purchase of its expression of interest and nomination forms, earlier scheduled to close on 4 May to 7 May. Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said that the major reason the opposition may feel it is being destroyed is simply because the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is performing beyond expectations. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a 60-year-old man in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The victim was kidnapped on Saturday while on his way to his residence. In August 2025, the Tinubu administration imposed a seven-year moratorium on creating new federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, and six years for private ones. Former Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali, has joined the Yobe governorship race following the collapse of consensus talks among aspirants.
