Report has it that Napoleon was kidnapped on his way to his polling unit on Saturday morning. It was gathered that there was sporadic shooting, to disperse people. A member of Kano State House of Assembly, Isiyaku Ali Danja Gezawa and 164 persons were arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly trying to set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and a police station. Ali Danja, of Gezawa Constituency, was alleged to have led a team of hoodlums to destroy the INEC collation centre in Gezawa. Police have arrested 161 persons in Kano State for committing various offences during the governorship and House of Assembly elections of March 18. “A total of 161 suspects were arrested for vote buying, destruction of election materials, and possession of offensive weapons and drugs,’’ Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammad Gumel, told newsmen in Kano on Sunday. “Notable among the suspects is Hon. The Labour Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga has rejected the result of the guber polls as announced by the collation officer from Nkanu East Local Government Area. Edeoga, who spoke at a press conference Sunday night, asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to cancel the result in line with its guidelines. The Nigerian Exchange Limited has sanctioned 16 companies for various market infractions in three years, according to findings by The PUNCH. Specifically, the NGX imposed the sum of N779.5m fine on LASACO Assurance Plc, Presco Plc, Ardova Plc, C&I Leasing Plc, and 12 other listed companies on the bourse between 2020 and 2022. The sanctions bothered on the failure of the companies to comply with some post-listing requirements of the Exchange, especially the prompt filing of results and accounts. A nutritionist and dietician, Olusola Malomo, has warned Nigerians against high consumption of eggs, noting that it may increase the risk of having brain cancer and hypertension. The expert explained that eggs are the main source of dietary cholesterol, advising that they must be consumed moderately. According to him, one egg per day is recommended for children from six months to five years, stressing that people who are older and overweight should not eat more than three eggs in a week. The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Muhammadu Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election held in Gombe State. The incumbent governor polled 342,821 to emerge the winner having defeated his closest challenger and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Muhammad Barde, who scored 233,131 and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Khamisu Mailantarki, who recorded 19,861 votes.
