Steven Gerrard has taken a job as a television pundit for England’s upcoming matches against Italy and Ukraine. Gerrard has been out of job since being fired by Aston Villa last October. In recent months, he has been linked with Leeds United, Trabzonspor and Poland ever since. As part of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s ‘Grain from Ukraine’ humanitarian programme, Kenya received tens of thousands of metric tonnes of wheat to help combat a drought that is threatening the livelihoods of millions of people. The programme has delivered more than 140,000 tonnes of wheat to needy African Nations since November 2022. Accompanied by various dignitaries, Kenya’s deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, received the shipment on Monday in Mombasa. According to the INEC, Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to defeat his closest challengers, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP) and Abdulazeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 312,329 and 62,449 votes, respectively. There were fireworks and jubilation at the governor’s residence after the electoral commission declared Sanwo-Olu the winner of the election. The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Siminaliayi Fubara, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Fabura the winner of the poll on Monday night. The PDP’s flagbearer won in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state. The electoral officer in charge of Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Bashir Shagari, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. Shagari, according to a source, was coming to INEC collation center in Gusau to deliver the results of the governorship election for Maradun Local Government when he was kidnapped along the road on Monday. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege, on Monday lost the governorship seat to the Peoples Democratic Party’s Sheriff Oborevwori. In the governorship election that took place on Saturday, Omo-Agege polled a total of 240,229 votes which was 120,005 votes short of what his counterpart in the PDP polled. Oborevwori secured 360,234 total votes.
