The National Pension Commission (PenCom) on Tuesday said it has disbursed N577.26 billion to 1,053,000 Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs), easing long-standing pension arrears under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). The Head of PenCom’s Management Services Department, Usman Musa disclosed this at the 2025 PenCom Media Conference in Abuja. The payments were made from the N758 billion Federal Government bond approved earlier this year to settle outstanding pension liabilities. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Sokoto State chapter, has suspended its planned street protest over worsening insecurity and resolved to hold special prayers for peace and safety across the state. The decision was announced on Wednesday by the state NLC Chairman, Abdullahi Jungle, who said it followed consultations and a resolution of the State Executive Council, in line with a directive from the NLC national headquarters. The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described remarks attributed to a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Okonkwo, suggesting that President Bola Tinubu can now “rule Nigeria with the military” following a Supreme Court verdict relating to the emergency rule in Rivers State, as “reckless and misleading”. The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Ogun State has apprehended 16 drivers for overspeeding along the Sagamu–Abeokuta expressway.The drivers were apprehended on Tuesday during a special intervention patrol led by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, accompanied by the Head of Operations. According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the patrol was part of efforts to achieve the 2025 Corporate Strategic Goal, which targets a 10 per cent reduction in road traffic fatalities and injuries. A fire incident that occurred at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday left no fewer than five vehicles razed along the Epe–Ijebu-Ode Expressway in the Eredo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.  PUNCH Metro learnt on Wednesday that the fire began when a 45,000-litre tanker conveying diesel lost control and fell on its side.  The fall reportedly caused the tanker to spill its contents on the road before it was engulfed in flames.  The impact of the blaze was said to have destroyed four other vehicles that were parked along the road.  A Facebook user, Epe Lawa, who shared scenes…
