The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that a new variant of influenza virus is spreading fast but expressed hope that vaccination remains the “most effective defence”. The Chairman of the House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, Chike Okafor, has warned that a bench warrant of arrest may be issued against the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Ayo Sontinrin, and the Director-General of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Abubakar Dabban, if they fail to appear before the committee. A senior officer of the Ghana Police Service has said that denying one’s spouse sexual relations could amount to emotional abuse and attract a jail term under the country’s domestic violence laws. Ondo State Police Command has arrested four suspects for allegedly assaulting officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps and causing malicious damage to their property.
