The Delta State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected cultists and recovered firearms, ammunition and other dangerous weapons in separate operations across the state. The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Asaba. Edafe said the operations were part of the command’s intensified crackdown on cultism, illegal possession of firearms and other violent crimes. Four soldiers were injured on Saturday after troops on patrol survived an improvised explosive device (IED) blast and a subsequent ambush along the Damboa–Kumala–Maiduguri supply route in Borno State.
