Fresh details emerged on Wednesday on Tuesday’s attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State by suspected terrorists. A younger brother of the traditional ruler of Woro, Mr Ali Umar, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the attackers invaded the community shortly after 5pm. A Lagos-based auto dealer, Quadri Balogun, has alleged that some policemen in the Ikorodu area of the state pointed guns at him and a friend and threatened to shoot them before extorting N100,000. Balogun recounted the incident in a telephone interview with PUNCH Metro on Wednesday. Wema Bank Plc recorded a strong financial performance in the 2025 financial year, posting a profit for the year of N193.19bn, representing a 124 per cent increase from the N86.28bn recorded in 2024. The bank’s audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2025 showed that the improved performance was driven by growth in interest income, higher loan creation, and expansion in customer deposits, despite rising operating costs.
