The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated the importance of stop-and-search operations as a key crime-prevention strategy, following the interception of an illegally manufactured firearm during a routine patrol in the state. The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the safe arrival of one of its C-130 aircraft, NAF 913, at a maintenance facility in Lisbon, Portugal, its final destination. Two male adults have been recovered dead from the rubble of the Great Nigeria Insurance House Plaza, which was gutted by fire in the Balogun Market area of Lagos Island, Lagos State. PUNCH Online reported on Wednesday that the fire started on the fourth floor and spread to the sixth floor of the 25-storey building before engulfing the remaining floors and adjoining structures. The Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party has accused Nigeria’s ruling class of lacking empathy and selflessness, warning that the country will continue to struggle unless leaders place the welfare of ordinary citizens above personal gain. The Ecobank Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bank of China (Mauritius) Limited to deepen cooperation in trade, payments and financial services that support economic activity between China and Africa.
