Police in Katsina State have rescued 11 passengers who were kidnapped by armed bandits along the Sheme-Kankara Road in Kankara Local Government Area. The Katsina State Police Command said the victims were travelling to Kano in a Toyota Hiace bus when the attackers stopped the vehicle at Kakumi Village on the night of May 18, 2026. The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Jibrin, has warned politicians against early campaigns and rallies. Jibrin, who gave the warning shortly after the state Security Council Meeting in Damaturu on Tuesday, said early campaigns and rallies violated the Electoral Act 2022. He said politicians organising such rallies must desist forthwith or face the wrath of the law.
