A bill seeking to increase the number of judges of the Federal High Court from 70 to 90 has passed second reading in the Senate. Another bill seeking to increase the number of justices of the Court of Appeal from 70 to 110 also passed second reading. The Senate on Tuesday passed the Factoring, Assignments and Receivables Financing Bill, 2026, a landmark legislation designed to improve access to finance for businesses, enhance liquidity and promote domestic and international trade. Officers of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a suspected drug baron, one Ofonime Etim, after dismantling a notorious drug bunk in a renewed offensive against criminal elements in the state.
