The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan, has assured voters in Ekiti State that their votes will count in the June 20 governorship election, while taking a hard line on vote-buying. A Nigerian, Samuel Ugberase, indicted for wire fraud, has been extradited from Nigeria to the United States to face prosecution. The US Department of Justice said Mr Ugberase was extradited for his role in a romance scam and money laundering scheme. In a statement on Tuesday, the US Department of Justice stated that he was indicted in 2021 by a grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched a free health insurance enrolment and medical outreach programme for inmates across correctional centres in Abuja, benefitingmore than 1,500 inmates.
