The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has announced power outages in parts of Kano, Katsina and Kaduna states following the collapse of electricity poles caused by a strong windstorm. According to a statement issued by the company on Wednesday, the windstorm brought down 13 electricity poles along feeder lines supplying power to several affected communities. A female police officer and another person have died after a truck crashed into shops at New Mile 3 Market along the Gombe–Yola highway on Wednesday. The truck, which was carrying bags of grain, reportedly lost control after suffering brake failure and slammed into roadside shops. Two other people, including the driver, were injured in the accident.
