Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly urged Galatasaray to sign fellow Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare as a backup striker ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the Turkish champions expected to be left short in attack following the imminent departure of Argentine forward Mauro Icardi.
According to Turkish Galatasaray journalist Burak Eren, Osimhen has recommended Arokodare to the club, with the two Nigerian strikers known to share a close relationship.
Arokodare has previously cited Osimhen as an inspiration, and the former Napoli man’s standing within the Super Eagles squad makes his endorsement one the club is likely to take seriously.
Arokodare (24) is available this summer after an average debut season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he managed six goals and two assists in 38 appearances following a €26m move from Belgian side Genk last year.
Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League has forced the club into a cost-cutting exercise, and the Nigerian is among the players they are prepared to sell.
The big striker had previously attracted interest from Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor, though moves to those clubs now appear unlikely.
A switch to Galatasaray, where he would play under Osimhen’s wing, is emerging as the more realistic option.
Despite his difficult season in England, Arokodare’s broader career record of 90 goals in 259 club appearances suggests there is quality to be unlocked in the right environment.
Wolves are yet to place a formal price tag on the player, though they are expected to be open to offers. A loan arrangement is also understood to be a possibility should Galatasaray prefer to test the water before committing to a permanent deal.
