The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects in the Yola-North Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Nguroje explained that operatives attached to Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters arrested the two suspects in connection with separate criminal cases.
“On 3rd June 2026, police operatives arrested one Idris Auwal, 22 years old, a resident of Doubeli Culvert, Yola North Local Government Area,” the statement noted.
According to the command, a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect conspired with three accomplices, who are currently at large, and broke into a shop at Nassarawo Borehole belonging to Abdullahi Sunusi.
The statement added that the suspects carted away a bag containing cash, important documents, and assorted shop provisions valued at an undisclosed amount.
“Through diligent investigation, Idris Auwal was apprehended, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplices.
“In a similar incident on 5th June 2026, operatives of Doubeli Division arrested another suspected Shilla gang member who specialises in attacking and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables.
“The suspect reportedly approached one Abubakar Abdullahi along Doubeli Bypass, armed with a cutlass, and robbed him of an Itel mobile phone and the sum of N19,000,” the statement added.
He pointed out that the suspect inflicted injuries on the victim’s head with the cutlass.
“Fortunately, police operatives swiftly responded to the scene, arrested the suspect, and ensured the victim received immediate medical attention.
“Items recovered from the suspects include a cutlass, a knife, and the stolen handset,” the command disclosed.
Nguroje noted that the two suspects are under investigation, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal gang and bring them to justice.
The command assured members of the public of its commitment to combating Shilla gangsterism and all forms of criminality.
“Residents are encouraged to continue supporting the police with timely and useful information to enhance public safety and security,” the statement read.
