Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly in advanced talks to sign highly-rated AIK Fotboll winger Zadok Yohanna this summer, days after the Swedish club revealed that they had begun negotiations over his potential sale, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Seagulls are preparing for life back in Europe after finishing the 2025/26 season in eighth place in the Premier League, securing UEFA Conference League football.
Fabian Hürzeler’s side are expected to enter the market for reinforcements this summer, with Adam Webster leaving upon the expiration of his contract and James Milner announcing his retirement.
However, the addition of at least one new winger is also thought to be high on the agenda for Brighton following the departure of club legend Solly March, and 18-year-old Yohanna has swiftly emerged as a leading target.
PUNCH Sports Extra reported that AIK confirmed they are in negotiations with an unnamed club over Yohanna’s sale, a deal that could generate a fee in the region of £20m and represent a club-record transfer.
The potential sale of Yohanna could also make him the most expensive player ever sold by a Swedish club, surpassing the current record held by Lucas Bergvall, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Djurgårdens IF for €20m (£17.3m) in 2024.
According to Sky Sports News, Brighton have emerged as the club in advanced talks with AIK over a deal for Yohanna and are optimistic an agreement can be reached this week.
Yohanna is said to have attracted considerable interest from other Premier League clubs, as well as teams in Spain and Germany.
Should a deal be agreed, Yohanna could soon become the sixth Nigerian footballer to play for Brighton after Leon Balogun, Chuba Akpom, Ade Akinbiyi, Emeka Ifejiagwa and David Adekola.
Yohanna has made a notable impression in AIK’s first team since joining the club last year, registering five goals and four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions, primarily operating from the right wing.
