Kun Khalifat FC goalkeeper Chijioke Ejiogu has urged supporters of the club to turn out in large numbers for their decisive 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League survival fixture against Wikki Tourists at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The veteran shot-stopper said the presence of fans could play a major role in lifting the team and making it difficult for visiting sides to perform, as Kun Khalifat battle to secure their top-flight status on the final day of the season.
Kun Khalifat go into the encounter knowing that only victory will guarantee their survival in the NPFL, with anything less potentially resulting in relegation after a tense campaign.
Ejiogu called on supporters to see themselves as an integral part of the squad and encouraged them to create an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition throughout the match.
“We call our supporters the 12th man because they have a huge impact on us,” Ejiogu said.
“When they sing they make it very uncomfortable for oppositions to play against us. We appreciate their love and gesture.
It is very important for us to give them a good game.”
Club chairman Michelle Amaefula had earlier acknowledged the difficulty of the fixture, warning that Wikki Tourists would provide strong resistance in what is expected to be a highly competitive encounter.
Amaefula also stressed the importance of mental readiness within the squad as they prepare for the decisive clash, while appealing for unity between the team and its supporters to boost their survival chances.
“We would like the fans to come out in their numbers to support us. We need that togetherness,” Amaefula said.
With pressure mounting and survival at stake, Kun Khalifat are expected to rely heavily on home support as they attempt to finish the season on a positive note and retain their NPFL status.
