The Manchester United midfielder won the award ahead of Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
The Player of the Season award is given to the standout performer in a Premier League campaign.
The award has been in existence since 1994/95, when Alan Shearer won the inaugural award.
However, five players have won it a record two times, while Fernandes is the current holder.
