The Police on Friday arraigned three suspects before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding a man of N11.4 million.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that defendants, John Zinsu, 43; Koleoso Olamide, 45; and Oyinlola Saheed, 37, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence, and stealing.
The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants committed the offences within the Yaba Magisterial District.
Ikhayere alleged that the defendants conspired with others still at large to obtain N11.4 million from the complainant, Idiahi.
She said the defendants obtained the money under the pretence of selling a grey 2013 Toyota Camry from the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants failed to deliver the vehicle and refused to refund the money, instead converting it to their personal use.
Ikhayere said the offences contravened Sections 287, 314, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr L.A. Owolabi, granted each defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Owolabi adjourned the case until June 30 for mention.
