The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Sadiq Abubakar Yusuf, over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Guru Village, Bauchi.
The incident was said to have been reported at the ‘B’ Division, GRA, Bauchi, on May 15, 2026, at about 5 pm.
A statement by the spokesman of the command, SP Nafiu Habib, revealed that the complainant, a 45-year-old man, alleged that the suspect, who is his nephew, lured his 14-year-old daughter outside their residence in the early hours of May 14 and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The police added that operatives swiftly responded to the report, arrested the suspect, and took the victim to the Police Clinic for medical attention.
The statement further revealed that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
This is as the command reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on crimes against minors and women, assuring the public that the matter would be handled professionally and in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, in the statement urged residents to continue reporting cases of abuse and other criminal activities to the nearest police station.
