The All Progressives Grand Alliance has restated its unwavering commitment to conducting a free, fair, and transparent primary election, saying the will of the people alone shall determine who emerges as the Party’s flag bearer.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary, APGA, Ejimofor Opara, noted that some individuals have been parading themselves as emissaries of the National Chairman and the National Working Committee of the party.
Ejimofor, however, warned aspirants and members of the party against dealing with such people, describing them as fraudsters who do not represent the party in any capacity.
He reminded all aspirants and members that the party’s leadership remains fully committed to enforcing the Code of Conduct guiding the ongoing nomination and primary election process.
The statement read in part, “The attention of the National Leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance has been drawn to the reprehensible actions of a few recalcitrant individuals who are parading themselves as emissaries of the National Chairman and the National Working Committee.
“We wish to state categorically that such persons are fraudsters and do not represent the Party in any capacity.
“Aspirants and members of the public are hereby advised to be vigilant and to report any such individual to the appropriate Party authorities for immediate disciplinary action.
“The party further reminds all aspirants and members that the APGA leadership remains fully committed to enforcing the Code of Conduct guiding the ongoing nomination and primary election process.”
He pointed out that financial inducements of any sort remain a serious offence and shall attract severe sanctions for both the giver and the receiver, adding that any breach will be dealt with in line with the Party’s Constitution.
“Finally, APGA, as a truly progressive platform, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to conducting a free, fair, and transparent primary election.
“The will of the people alone shall determine who emerges as the Party’s flag bearer,” the statement added.
